Encyclopedie D’Histoire Naturelle: Poissons

Between 1850-1861, French naturalist Jean-Charles Chenu created an extensive series of Zoological encyclopaedias documenting wildlife from around the world. The volumes featured numerous zoological drawings of a myriad of creatures. These works marked the explosion of interest in natural history that occurred after the Enlightenment.

This exhibition catalogues a collection of anatomical drawings of fish. The delicate suggestive drawings hark back to a time where the observation and study of nature was of the utmost importance.

Daily screenings in January and March at 8am, Perth Cultural Centre Screen.
