The Chapter House was built in 1286 and is one of the high points of 13th-century architecture in Britain.
It is the only octagonal chapter house to be built as a first storey on top of an undercroft, which was the strong room of the cathedral.
Canopies and Cathedrals is an international collaboration between Western Australian artists David Carson and Sarah Robinson, and MPM, a UK-based electronic music ensemble. The transdisciplinary work is an exploration of the unique aspects of one of the world’s oldest Gothic cathedrals and its correspondence with the natural environment. The artwork, originating in Western Australia, was presented at The Chapter House in Wells Cathedral, UK, in July 2025.
