The Stonewall Uprising of June 1969 was a series of demonstrations by members of the gay community in Greenwich Village, New York City, widely considered to be the most important event leading to the gay liberation movement and the modern fight for LGBTQ rights in the United States.
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall alongside events worldwide, the animated Rainbow Flag was flown on the Northbridge Piazza Screen, in solidarity – a motion graphic adaptation of the Gilbert Baker LGBTQ communities design. This year’s adaptation included short segments that referenced the 2017 Philadelphia update.
Special screening: 28 June, 8pm
