Lino Lago was born in 1973 in Redondela, Spain. He shares his live between Lithuania and Spain. He graduated from the Fine Arts University of Madrid Complutense University, painting section.
A trained painter, Lago juxtaposes classically-styled portraits and domestic interiors with jarring, unexpected abstract expressions – sometimes dramatic explosions of colour or solid blocks of paint, or a single squiggle revealing only a glimpse of the image underneath. This fragmentation makes familiar classical images appear strange and alienating, opening our eyes to multiple interpretations of history and the present.
